Paid and Staying: Congratulations, Jaden McDaniels

Minnesota’s lockdown forward gets a well-earned commitment—and the Pack keeps a cornerstone.

Jaden McDaniels is getting paid. Wolves fans, this one deserves a celebration.

Minnesota and McDaniels have agreed to a one-year, $40 million contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2029–30 season, according to Associated Press reporting. It adds a year to his existing deal—not a replacement contract for this season.

For New Pack Order, the message is simple: congratulations, Jaden. Earned, not given.

More Than a Highlight Reel

Some players announce themselves with the ball. Jaden can change a possession before he ever touches it.

The length. The feet. The willingness to stay attached when an opponent tries to shake loose. Wolves fans know the value of a defender who makes a scorer work for everything—and McDaniels has already earned league recognition with an All-Defensive Second Team selection in 2023–24.

Those possessions do not always become the clip everybody shares. They still matter when a game gets tight.

The Offense Is Catching Up

This commitment is not just about defense. McDaniels is coming off a career-best 2025–26 season in which he averaged 14.8 points and shot 41.2% from three, according to the AP.

That is the exciting part heading into this season. With Anthony Edwards drawing attention and LaMelo Ball creating opportunities, Jaden does not need to force the spotlight. Cutting into space, knocking down open shots and attacking an off-balance defense can make him an essential part of what this group becomes.

The ceiling is not only about what Ant and Melo can do together. It is about the players who turn their creation into winning possessions.

Keep the Core. Raise the Standard.

Our read: Minnesota is investing in continuity, defensive identity and a player whose offensive game is still growing.

A contract does not win the next game. But keeping Jaden in the picture gives this team something worth building around.

Congratulations, No. 3. Keep making the tough assignments look ordinary. Keep growing. Keep setting the tone.

The Pack sees you.
